Keep Talking

"One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” Luke 18:1-8 NLT

Pray, pray pray!

There is a 100% chance that you will make it through this trial if you simply keep a running dialogue with Jesus.

There is a 100% chance that you will make it to heaven if you simply keep talking to Him. As you would talk to a close friend. Use your regular words. Yell. Laugh. Cry. Joke around. In other words, talk however you normally talk.

Did you miss your prayer time this morning? Talk to Him while you're getting ready for work.

Turn off the radio and talk to Him while you're driving.

While you're working, talk to Him inside your head or under your breath.

Talk to Him at lunchtime.

Talk to Him on the way home from work.

Oh, you lost your job? Talk to Jesus. All day.

Talk to Him in the middle of your mess, your failures, your hopelessness, your brokeness.

Are you getting it yet?

You simply can't fail as long as you keep talking to Him.

Oh yeah. Listen, too. Just find a place to sit in His presence and patiently listen. You may need to go for a walk or a drive to quiet your racing thoughts.

After I was healed on April 12, 2008, I had some difficult days. But I just continued to talk my way through it. I told Jesus every little thing. And I still have difficult days. And I keep talking.

"Dear Jesus, please help everyone to get this today. You desire for us, Your creation, to constantly talk to You. You love to hear us talk. You love to hear us sing to You. Especially in the middle of our mess. Please give someone hope this morning. Please continue to draw us into communication with You. How I love You. Thanks ahead of time. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN."

Gatekeeper

"In all, there were 212 gatekeepers in those days, and they were listed according to the genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed their ancestors because they were reliable men. These gatekeepers and their descendants, by their divisions, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the house of the Lord when that house was a tent. The gatekeepers were stationed on all four sides—east, west, north, and south. Their relatives in the villages came regularly to share their duties for seven-day periods. The four chief gatekeepers, all Levites, were trusted officials, for they were responsible for the rooms and treasuries at the house of God. They would spend the night around the house of God, since it was their duty to guard it and to open the gates every morning. Some of the gatekeepers were assigned to care for the various articles used in worship. They checked them in and out to avoid any loss. Others were responsible for the furnishings, the items in...

Odd Duck

"He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son." John 1:10-14 Are you an odd duck? Jesus was the Perfect Example of an odd duck. He was God and man. In the same body. How odd is that? He came into the world he created. Huh? The very world He created didn't recognize Him. His own people rejected him. Ever felt rejected by everyone, even your own family? You are not alone. Instead of walking around in the shame of being an odd duck, just know that you are in Good Company. Jesus was part of the Master Plan. His own Master...

Equal Opportunity

"There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” “How are these things possible?” Nicodemus asked. Jesus replied, “You are a respect...
