"In all, there were 212 gatekeepers in those days, and they were listed according to the genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed their ancestors because they were reliable men. These gatekeepers and their descendants, by their divisions, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the house of the Lord when that house was a tent. The gatekeepers were stationed on all four sides—east, west, north, and south. Their relatives in the villages came regularly to share their duties for seven-day periods.
The four chief gatekeepers, all Levites, were trusted officials, for they were responsible for the rooms and treasuries at the house of God. They would spend the night around the house of God, since it was their duty to guard it and to open the gates every morning.
Some of the gatekeepers were assigned to care for the various articles used in worship. They checked them in and out to avoid any loss. Others were responsible for the furnishings, the items in the sanctuary, and the supplies, such as choice flour, wine, olive oil, frankincense, and spices." 1 Chronicles 9:22-27
"Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body." 1Corinthians 6:19-20

I must guard my temple. How? Through the power of the Holy Spirit.
"The eyes are the window to your soul." William Shakespeare
“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!" Matthew 6:22-23
I must guard what I allow into my soul through my eyes.
For example, scrolling aimlessly on the internet can be dangerous.
I must listen to the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit, my gatekeeper, as I journey through this life. How? Through prayer, Bible Study and fasting.
Fasting is my least favorite part, but it is a powerful, necessary part of my relationship with God. Fasting gets God's attention. And it gets my attention, that's for sure.
"Thank You for the reminder that I must place gatekeepers around my temple. And thank You for the fasting reminder. Thank You for continuing to tug on my heart. How I love You. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN."
