Light

"Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is unhealthy, your body is filled with darkness. Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.”

Luke 11:34-36 NLT

I had a difficult week. I had a painful conversation with someone I love dearly. Plus my dog was attacked by pit bullies and had surgery as a result. (He's feeling much better, thank God). And then, I started a new job.

Three life changing events that happened within a few days left me shaken.

The first event was devastating. I hurt so deeply for my friend. It was as if I took their pain on myself.

The second event was extremely troubling as well.

The third was simply a big change.

I immediately put my "Steps to Staying Healed" into practice. If anyone wants a copy of these steps, message me your email address.

Regarding the first two events, I embraced the pain. I talked to God about it. I expressed every fear and every feeling out loud to Him. And asked Him to please intervene in both situations.

And then I kicked every negative thought out of my head, thought by thought. Over and over. And replaced them with the promises of God.

This exercise works every time.

Oh, the deep pain was still there. I simply kept giving it to God over and over. And by day two, I was feeling a teeny bit better. And as I kept repeating the steps, day three showed up. And again, I was a bit better. And then the loved one reached out to let me know that God is doing a healing work in them.

Oh no. The challenges haven't disappeared. Not at all. But in the midst of everything, I am embracing the Light of Jesus.

Oh and my new job. Jesus is encouraging me to focus on the here and the now. I will focus on each day. I will give my very best each day. I refuse to worry about the what if's of the future.

My desire is to be filled with light, with no dark corners.

"Dear Jesus, please fill me with Your light. Please cause Your Light to shine through me always. Even when life feels shaky and different. Help me to grab ahold of Your Light and hang on. How I love You. How I love Your Light. In Jesus' Name I pray and I thank You ahead of time, AMEN."

Gatekeeper

"In all, there were 212 gatekeepers in those days, and they were listed according to the genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed their ancestors because they were reliable men. These gatekeepers and their descendants, by their divisions, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the house of the Lord when that house was a tent. The gatekeepers were stationed on all four sides—east, west, north, and south. Their relatives in the villages came regularly to share their duties for seven-day periods. The four chief gatekeepers, all Levites, were trusted officials, for they were responsible for the rooms and treasuries at the house of God. They would spend the night around the house of God, since it was their duty to guard it and to open the gates every morning. Some of the gatekeepers were assigned to care for the various articles used in worship. They checked them in and out to avoid any loss. Others were responsible for the furnishings, the items in...

Odd Duck

"He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son." John 1:10-14 Are you an odd duck? Jesus was the Perfect Example of an odd duck. He was God and man. In the same body. How odd is that? He came into the world he created. Huh? The very world He created didn't recognize Him. His own people rejected him. Ever felt rejected by everyone, even your own family? You are not alone. Instead of walking around in the shame of being an odd duck, just know that you are in Good Company. Jesus was part of the Master Plan. His own Master...

Equal Opportunity

"There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” “How are these things possible?” Nicodemus asked. Jesus replied, “You are a respect...
