"The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free,
and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”
He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” Luke 4:17-21

A few of us have been going to the Women's Shelter for chapel service. We sing an easy chorus, share a five or ten minute Bible Study, say a prayer, and then enjoy snacks, coffee and conversation.
We are anointed to bring Good News to the poor. We encourage captives to be released. We open blind eyes to the hope that is found in God's word. We release the opressed. We proclain God's favor.
Some ladies cry silently, while others pour out their frustrations with bitter tears.
God shows up.
"One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” And they left their nets at once and followed him." Mark 1:16-17
I am saying, "Yes!" to God as he calls me to fish for people. They are out there in droves. All I need to do is prayerfully find them, and confidently use my words to share the hope of Jesus with them.
"Dear Jesus, thank You for the opportunity to share hope to folks who gave up hope many years ago. Please tug on their hearts. Please open their eyes to Your unconditional love. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN."
