I get a do over today!
Yesterday I was chatting with my Best Friend, Jesus Christ. He reminded me that today starts my 60th birthday week. Yes, that's correct. 60.
I'm relieved to know that 60 is the new 40.
Anyway, (It's anyway. Not anyways. I'm shocked and amazed every time I hear well spoken folks say anyways.)
Anyway, Jesus reminded me that I can have a do over starting today. He encouraged me to celebrate this week. To celebrate my birth and also my rebirth on April 12, 2008.
Even though I claim to be an active Christian, I am disappointed that I'm not as far along in my walk with Jesus as I had hoped to be now, at the age of 60.
I have fallen short with my relationship goals with Jesus.
However, I get a do over today.
Some friends and I are going through the book, Switch On Your Brain, by Dr. Caroline Leaf. Even though I was healed of depression, anxiety and panic attacks on April 12, 2008, I still have challenges that I need to overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit that lives in me.
"Therefore, son of man, say to your people, ‘If someone who is righteous disobeys, that person’s former righteousness will count for nothing. And if someone who is wicked repents, that person’s former wickedness will not bring condemnation. The righteous person who sins will not be allowed to live even though they were formerly righteous.’ If I tell a righteous person that they will surely live, but then they trust in their righteousness and do evil, none of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered; they will die for the evil they have done. And if I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ but they then turn away from their sin and do what is just and right— if they give back what they took in pledge for a loan, return what they have stolen, follow the decrees that give life, and do no evil—that person will surely live; they will not die. None of the sins that person has committed will be remembered against them. They have done what is just and right; they will surely live."
Ezekiel 33:12-15
So, whatever I am doing now, that erases the past. If I have always been a decent person and I decide to be evil, my current behavior erases the past.
By the same token, If I have not been a great person and I decide to repent and change, my current decision erases the past.
This scripture reading is so encouraging.
So, this week, I'm celebrating my birth, my healing and also my do over.
If you have thoughts to share with me. or if I can encourage you in any way, please reach out to me.
